TIME SIGNS PERCEPTION

For the collaboration between the IT department team and the KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd art space, a conceptual approach was initiated, exploring connections between artistic design interests and the technical and content-related aspects of IT work. The exploration of the IT department’s specific characteristics and features through written questionnaires and feedback sessions led to categories that are essential for both sides, the information technology and the artistic worlds: time, language, and omnipresence. This collaborative approach underscores the effectiveness of collective input for the resulting design.

The design elements in the entrance area establish a dialogue between the digital and the tangible. On the one hand, there are thought-provoking phrases on the walls that address the theme of time. On the other hand, there are wall objects depicting characters from programming languages and lettering with sentences that grapple with the perception of time. The reduction
to a few words allows all visitors and employees to make personal associations. These definitions of time also open up a connection to digitized realities and a glimpse into the past.

Individual characters from the programming language, realized as translucent wall objects, define the space with their dimensionality and lightness. To make the omnipresent visible and to stimulate reflection, a large translucent mural in the seminar room embodies a starry sky. An oversized petri dish contains the firmament, on which celestial bodies become visible as constellations named by humans, and allows for interpretations in many directions.

Postcards featuring the designs are available to take away and invite reflection on the ever-evolving IT landscape.
