The two central themes, material and memory, were made visible through forms and materials in the new rooms of Perg, a house for counselling, work and leisure of pro mente Upper Austria.

At the beginning of the design, we turned to the previous users and asked questions like “What are you taking with you?” and “What should definitely be taken from the old locations to the new one – materially as well as from the spirit of the individual previous locations? Therefore, the working title at the beginning was “Something to take with you”, which also guided us in the workshops with the clients. The inspiring results are the starting point for the design elements for the rooms, the main entrance, the workshop entrance and the corridors.

In the workshops with the participants of pro mente OÖ, Perg, they drew, staged and wrote in order to position themselves, to think in common and to collect things that are important to them. In a further step, the results of the workshops and the preceding research and reflections were transformed into design elements for the spaces and abstracted, brought into form and material and feasibility.
