I REMEMBER! THE FILM
In this multi-part workshop series, rich memories connected to the present were unearthed, shared, and explored together in March and April 2025. Artistic strategies, methods, and techniques were tested, and various artistic positions were discussed. A collaborative film emerged from the individual memories and the wealth of individual videos. This project aligns with the annual theme of KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd, “The Unevenness of Change.”
Project participants: Suna Arslan, Silvia Bartoš, Susanne Blaimschein, Arthur Hagg, Mina Malnar, Manuela Oberhamberger, San Obwegeser, Andrea Prantl, Erika Schwyhla, Gertraud Sobotka, Sonja Tanzer, Theresia Wischenbart

KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd
The large, cluttered apartment was the starting point for our explorations. We didn’t even need it anymore. Because our rich memories, connected to the present, were treasures enough. We unearthed them, experimented and tried things out together, laughed a lot, and sometimes dug deep. In any case, we were courageous and determined. We learned a lot and even touched on artistic strategies. Our cell phone transmitted data. Image sequences and experiences emerged.
And now? A collaborative film exchange, disguised as “I Remember,” will be shown, along with many wonderful short films, glimpses into other worlds of memory that want to touch you.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
I documented a large, empty apartment on video. It serves as both the starting point and the central theme, a cinematic container for our explorations, which, over the course of “I Remember!”, will be contrasted with your memories, perspectives, and routines. We will experiment with dialogues, conduct interviews, stage everyday scenes, assign responsibilities, and film with mobile phones. Your video sequences and audio recordings will emerge. In the process, you will learn about my artistic strategies and take away the methods and tools that you can use effectively. A collaborative film will be created under co-direction. (Miriam Bajtala)
Miriam Bajtala: *1970 in Bratislava; lives, sleeps, and works mostly in Vienna. The themes of her artistic exploration revolve around perception, space, memory, (self-)empowerment, witnessing, representation, and the power of poetry.
