Exhibition opening: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2019, 7:00 PM.

On display will be, among others, some large-scale spur paintings created between 2018 and 2019 in his temporary studio in Mantua. As is often the case in his work – whether in the encaustic paintings or the more recent works with fungal spores – Josef Ramaseder initially seems to distance himself somewhat from painting and photography by bypassing common idioms. But this distance is just as great as it allows an investigative look at the medium of painting and the medium of photography.

This exhibition is the second in a series of artist positions.

“And One and Two and Three and Four” features selected works by four internationally active artists Anne Brannys (D), Amanda Dunsmore (IR), Michael Goldgruber (A) and Josef Ramaseder (A). Throughout the period from August to October 2019, an “archive” also invites visitors to explore further works by the artists.
