Concept: Aileen Derieg, Reinhard Winkler, Gertraud Sobotka and the team of KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd
Unfinished, written objects.
At the invitation of AK Upper Austria, KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd, pro mente Upper Austria, made an artistic contribution to the conference in June 2022: “The silent pandemic of mental illness. Why we suffer and how to get out of it – focus on children and young people”.
What makes the hearts of young people so heavy? What is the life experience of the hour? What life experience do we want young people to have? Along the questions, terms and statements were sought, discussed, discarded in collaboration with Aileen Derieg, Reinhard Winkler, Gertraud Sobotka and the team of KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd. A selection of these words was realised as written objects that appeared distributed throughout the event space. These are characterised by the absence of letters in the individual words, which refer to the absence of “everything/something” in the lives of the young people. The title: “UNFINISHED, written obbjects.”
“Many young people are suffering and they often literally lack the words to express this suffering. Often they are not listened to either. At our event on this topic, the artists of KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd gave space to this lack with their written objects and thus created awareness for this problem – thank you very much for that!”
